Meet the Board

Terence J. Davis, c/o 1990, was unanimously voted to serve as the President of the board because of his consistent dedication shown to any business involving O. P. Walker, it's students, and staff.  Tarence served as Student Body President his senior year, Senior Class President, and Football Captain.  He also participated in the Marching and Band Concerts.  Tarence served as the School Operations Manager and Director of Athletics and Student Activities at O. Perry Walker High School.  He presently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Ashé Cultural Arts Center.  As well, he directs the Sunday School at First Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and serves on the board of the Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. Merchants Association and the Chalmette Westbank CAC.

Monisha James, c/o 99, serves as the Vice President on the board. She was a member of COE (Cooperative Office Education), the Majorettes, Captain of the Walkerettes, and voted Miss Junior and Miss Senior by her peers.  Monisha is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a University of New Orleans Alumnus where she received her Masters in Public History with a concentration in New Orleans History.  She now works in the public sector and is a freelance historian.  Monisha helped organize the c/o 99's 20th Reunion.  She's the driving force behind the renaming of the O. P. Walker building located at 2832 General Meyer Ave to the now, Augustus T. Walker.  She's our Historian and the one that does not let us forget the business on the table.

Frank A. Bedell III, c/o of 2000, serves on the board as the Parliamentarian.  Frank served as Student Council President from 1998 to 2000, Senior Advisor of OPS and Westside Leaders, a member of JAG, and a member of the football team. He served as Deputy Director of Youthanasia and is the founder of the Lil Frank 5 Foundation founded in 2021 in honor of his late son that creates comprehensive, prevention, and intervention programs for teens of New Orleans and surrounding parishes.

Janay Coffil, c/o 2006, is excited to serve as Recording Secretary of the board.  Janay was a member of Walker's volleyball and basketball teams.  She also served as President of HONA (Harmony Oaks Neighborhood Association).  Janay is the founder of Handmade by Oochie, a company that offers a wide range of carefully crafted products that harness the power of natural ingredients to provide effective healing and nourishment. Janay fell in love with education as an active parent and now connects with middle school students through foundational Math and rapport as an educator.  Continuing the legacy of Walker is imperative to Janay.  There she found family outside of her own, friends, a safe space and an underlying love for sports and community. 

Latiaya "Big Snake" Henderson, c/o 2000, serves on the board as the Communications Officer. She is also her class' representative.  Latiaya was a 3 sport athlete, class Vice President, voted Miss Junior and Miss Walker by her peers, a WWLTV A+ Athlete, Marine Corps Scholar Athlete, and an honors graduate who went on to Alcorn State University with a volleyball and softball scholarship. Returning home, she began her coaching career at O. Perry Walker as the Middle School volleyball and High School softball coach. Walker is also where she was sparked to become a Math teacher.  Latiaya continues to train young volleyball and softball athletes in what she calls "The Snake Pit." She assisted and participated in the Blue vs Orange Reunion Weekend Events organized with the reopening of O. P. Walker after the storm.  Any mentioning of OPW, orange and blue, or a Charger.... you can expect Latiaya to appear.
